Hisar International Airport

Hisar International Airport, officially known as Maharaja Agrasen International Airport, is a public airport serving Hisar in Haryana, India. Located approximately 5 kilometers northeast of the city center on NH-9. the airport is undergoing significant development to enhance its infrastructure and services.

Development Phases

• Completed in December 2018, this phase included the construction of a new terminal building, three hangars, runway strengthening, installation of night flying equipment. perimeter floodlights security enhancements, and the widening of the approach road to four lanes.Currently underway. this phase focuses on extending the runway to 3,300 meters. constructing a new integrated terminal building, cargo terminal, Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, and other ancillary facilities.
• In April 2024. Vensa Infrastructure was awarded the contract for these developments .
• Planned for future implementation, this phase aims to upgrade the airport to international standards by 2030. It includes the development of a Maintenance. Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility an aerospace university. an aerospace and defense manufacturing industrial zone and logistics and food parks, covering an area of approximately 10,000 acres.

Strategic Importance

Airport is strategically positioned 165 kilometers west of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, 255 kilometers northwest of Noida International Airport, and 280 kilometers southwest of Chandigarh International Airport.

As a National Capital Region Counter Magnet City, Hisar is part of the 'Hisar-Narnaul Industrial Sub-corridor' of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project.

The airport's development is expected to boost regional connectivity and economic growth.

Current Status of Hisar International Airport

As of November 2024, Phase II construction is progressing, with the runway extension and new terminal building developments underway. The airport is anticipated to commence operations in the near futureenhancing connectivity for Hisar and the surrounding regions.
